Brandenburg’s Eco­no­mic Com­mit­tee meets in the Media City of Babelsberg

The Eco­no­mic Com­mit­tee of the Sta­te of Bran­den­burg met on 15 June 2022 in Stu­dio 10 in the Halos­ta­ge on the grounds of Stu­dio Babels­berg.

The first item on the agen­da of the 27th (public) mee­ting of the Com­mit­tee for Eco­no­mic Affairs, Labour and Ener­gy was an expert dis­cus­sion at the Pots­dam-Babels­berg media loca­ti­on. Befo­re a tour of the Rotor­film and the Volu­cap, repre­sen­ta­ti­ves of the media loca­ti­on pre­sen­ted cur­rent topics and chal­lenges of the local com­pa­nies. Carl Woeb­cken (CEO of Stu­dio Babels­berg) poin­ted out the importance of main­tai­ning and deve­lo­ping the loca­ti­on, also for lar­ge and inter­na­tio­nal film pro­duc­tions. Joa­chim Kosack (CEO of UFA GmbH) empha­sis­ed the eco­no­mic importance of the media loca­ti­on: a bil­li­on euros are tur­ned over here every year. Accor­ding to Andrea Wick­le­der (CEO of MTH Pots­dam), the three most rele­vant chal­lenges for the com­pa­nies at the loca­ti­on are curr­ent­ly the topics of skil­led workers, tax incen­ti­ves and the topic of relo­ca­ti­on. After the pre­sen­ta­ti­ons, the spea­k­ers ans­we­red the committee’s questions.

 

Com­mit­tee for Eco­no­my, Labour and Energy

The scope of work of the Com­mit­tee for Eco­no­my, Labour and Ener­gy coin­ci­des with the respon­si­bi­li­ties of the minis­try of the same name and ran­ges from tra­di­tio­nal crafts to the labour mar­ket, SMEs and tou­rism to high­ly inno­va­ti­ve and sus­tainable indus­try, struc­tu­ral chan­ge, net­work expan­si­on and the ener­gy sector. […]

The eco­no­mic struc­tu­re of the sta­te of Bran­den­burg is cha­rac­te­ri­sed by small and medi­um-sized enter­pri­ses, which form the back­bone of the eco­no­my in the area of the sta­te, and by lar­ger to lar­ge indus­tri­al sett­le­ments in the area near Ber­lin (“Capi­tal Regi­on”). The deve­lo­p­ment of the labour mar­ket in all its facets is a decisi­ve ele­ment in secu­ring the loca­ti­on, its attrac­ti­ve­ness and fur­ther eco­no­mic development. […]
