Brandenburg’s Economic Committee meets in the Media City of Babelsberg

The Economic Committee of the State of Brandenburg met on 15 June 2022 in Studio 10 in the Halostage on the grounds of Studio Babelsberg.

The first item on the agenda of the 27th (public) meeting of the Committee for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy was an expert discussion at the Potsdam-Babelsberg media location. Before a tour of the Rotorfilm and the Volucap, representatives of the media location presented current topics and challenges of the local companies. Carl Woebcken (CEO of Studio Babelsberg) pointed out the importance of maintaining and developing the location, also for large and international film productions. Joachim Kosack (CEO of UFA GmbH) emphasised the economic importance of the media location: a billion euros are turned over here every year. According to Andrea Wickleder (CEO of MTH Potsdam), the three most relevant challenges for the companies at the location are currently the topics of skilled workers, tax incentives and the topic of relocation. After the presentations, the speakers answered the committee’s questions.
