Au revoir Viva Technology

The Viva Technology took place in Paris for the eighth time. Japan was the guest country this time. According to the organizers, more than 165,000 visitors, over 13,500 startups and around 2,000 investors came together at the conference from 22 to 25 May 2024. While some came to find out about the latest trends and developments in the tech sector, others attended the conference to present their own business ideas or, conversely, to discover promising startups. A delegation from the Digital Hub Initiative (de:hub), consisting of the digital hubs and several start-ups from the de:hub ecosystem, was represented at the Franco-German joint stand, the “French-German Tech Lab”. Our Managing Director Andrea Wickleder and our Community & Partner Manager Luise Schröter were on site for the MediaTech Hub Potsdam. Furthermore, ten startups from the MTH community were also present: AssetAide, JYMMiN, Mitigant, RAVE.SPACE, Trueffles, Volucap, XR Bootcamp, yoona.ai and ZAUBAR. Sensit!, an alumni startup of the MTH Accelerator, was represented at the Dubai stand.

There were of course exciting panel talks and keynotes with experts from the various sectors again this year. One of the hot topics at Viva Technology was primarily Artificial Intelligence (AI). Other topics included mixed reality, robotics and impact.

The Digital Hub Initiative was also involved in organizing various program items and side events. For example, the first day ended with the “German Startup Night 2024”, which was organized by the AHK - Franco-German Chamber Franco-Allemande de Commerce et d’Industrie in cooperation with Germany’s Hidden Champion - Saarland, Berlin Partner and the de:hub initiative. Here, startups, investors and players from the industry came together to network in a relaxed atmosphere with snacks and cool drinks.

Another highlight was the “French-German Tech Battle”, which took place directly at the joint German-French stand. Four tech startups competed against each other and pitched their business ideas in front of an audience. ZAUBAR emerged as the winner of the battle, while the Potsdam startup Mitigant was named “Most Promising Startup” - congratulations to both teams.

The visit to Viva Technology 2024 was a good opportunity for MTH Potsdam and its startups to present themselves to an international audience and make new contacts. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Germany Trade & Invest and RCKT. for the organization and for the opportunity to be represented at Viva Technology this year.
