Due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus, small and large events worldwide had to be cancelled or postponed. To keep the magnitude of these developments in moderation, some formats are now taking place online.
Also we at the MediaTech Hub Potsdam will change some formats to online for the time being. From experiences of the past weeks and reports here are our top 3 solutions for virtual workshops and events:
- Zoom: Zoom is currently the hit among online providers for virtual communication, video webinars, smaller events with up to 1,000 video participants and 10,000 viewers. The handling and installation is uncomplicated and up to 100 participants are free of charge. The functions range from video and sound to sharing screens and setting up conference rooms. Via the gallery view you can see all participants at a glance, with the speaker being outlined in yellow. So even a workshop or event can be moderated well and everyone can interact with each other.
- StreamYard: Branding is very important at events and often falls away at online events. Not with StreamYard - the tool gives you the possibility to stream an event live, record it and also brand it with logos. To use all features you have to spend a little bit of money, 49$ per month in subscription, but it’s worth it.
- Try it out and experiment: For each company and/or event or meeting, the tools are different. Besides our Top 2 Zoom and StreamYard we are still trying out tools like the social platform Twitch, virtual meeting rooms like Chime or streaming services like wirstreamen.es from Potsdam.
We are also looking forward to receiving further tools and experience reports by mail to contact@mth-potsdam.de, because for now we will #stayathome.
