MTH Pots­dam cele­bra­tes 5 Years & Digi­tal Hub Initia­ti­ve Net­work Meeting

On June 26, 2023, the MTH Pots­dam cele­bra­ted its 5th anni­ver­sa­ry with around 150 guests at the Film­uni­ver­si­tät Babels­berg KON­RAD WOLF. Potsdam’s Mayor, Mike Schu­bert, prai­sed the work of the Media­Tech Hub in his wel­co­ming speech: The Media­Tech Hub Pots­dam helps to bring forth light­house tech­no­lo­gies and strong start-ups that have inno­va­ti­ve power and streng­then the inter­na­tio­nal importance and visi­bi­li­ty of Pots­dam and Babels­berg as a media loca­ti­on.” In addi­ti­on, the main part­ner of the evening, the IKT-Clus­terrepre­sen­ted by Jan Mar­quardt and MTH Pots­dam CEO Andrea Wick­le­der wel­co­med the com­mu­ni­ty. After­wards, peo­p­le could enjoy cool drinks and cate­ring from the “Alep­po Kitchen”. 

Media­Tech-Pop-up-Expe­ri­ence

As part of the net­wor­king event, the­re was also a hands-on Media­Tech pop-up expe­ri­ence bet­ween 8 and 9 p.m. with pro­jects from Babels­berg Film Uni­ver­si­ty, Klang­chat,MARKT­KOST, Roa­dia, Sen­sit!, Snaque, Volu­cap and 2Sync.

Not only the MTH Pots­dam com­mu­ni­ty, but also repre­sen­ta­ti­ves of the nati­on­wi­de Digi­tal Hub Initia­ti­ve of the Fede­ral Minis­try of Eco­no­mic Affairs and Cli­ma­te Action cele­bra­ted the fifth anni­ver­sa­ry of the Media­Tech Hub Pots­dam. Important mile­sto­nes of the last 5 years

Among the most important deve­lo­p­ments of the Media­Tech Hub are light­house pro­jects such as the Media­Tech Hub Space at the UFA or the Media­Tech Hub Acce­le­ra­tor, initia­ted by the Uni­ver­si­ty of Pots­dam, the Has­so Platt­ner Insti­tu­te and the Film Uni­ver­si­ty Babels­berg KON­RAD WOLF with around 40 start-ups in its port­fo­lio, which have acqui­red more than 20 mil­li­on euros in invest­ment to date. The Media­Tech Hub Con­fe­rence is Germany’s lea­ding B2B event for media tech­no­lo­gies and inspi­res hundreds of inter­na­tio­nal par­ti­ci­pan­ts every year with for­ward-loo­king tech trends and best prac­ti­ces - this year’s edi­ti­on on 27th and 28th of Sep­tem­ber pro­mi­ses many high­lights with a focus on film, TV & strea­ming. “In the future, inno­va­ti­ve poten­ti­als will con­ti­nue to be deve­lo­ped, which abo­ve all pay into the com­mon hub idea as well as pro­mo­te and streng­then entre­pre­neur­ship and inno­va­ti­on,” says Andrea Wick­le­der, Mana­ging Direc­tor of the Media­Tech Hub Pots­dam. The city offers young com­pa­nies an inter­na­tio­nal sci­en­ti­fic com­mu­ni­ty as well as excel­lent rese­arch insti­tu­ti­ons and universities.

Net­work mee­ting of the Digi­tal Hub Initia­ti­ve in Potsdam

The day after, the Digi­tal Hubs from Ger­ma­ny met for the second net­work mee­ting this year at UFA in Babels­berg. Updates from all the hubs were fol­lo­wed by an exch­an­ge on the topic of AI and an exci­ting talk on “AI and intellec­tu­al pro­per­ty” by Prof. Dr Chris­ti­an Czy­chow­ski from the law firm Nor­de­mann. After a joint lunch, the group was able to take a look behind the sce­nes on a gui­ded tour of Stu­dio Babels­berg. First we went to the Volu­cap and then to the Art Depart­ment and the Mar­le­ne Diet­rich Hall, among others. The day ended with a work­shop on what the Digi­tal Hubs have to offer start-ups.
